Get started

  1. Go to the home page and click Join. Send your name and your Plex email or username*.
  2. Wait for approval. Plex then sends you an email invitation.
  3. Accept the invitation. See Accept the invitation.
  4. Pin the libraries. See Set up your libraries.
  5. Set the video quality for your device. See Video quality.

* Do not send the form if you can already see OLYMPUS movies and TV shows in Plex.

Accept the invitation

  1. Sign in at plex.tv with your Plex account. Then open the Plex web app.
  2. If you can use more than one server, Plex asks about watched status. Choose to sync it.
  3. Click the wrench icon at the top right to open Settings.
  4. Click Manage Library Access.
  5. Find the invitation. Check that it is the server you expect. Click the check mark.
  6. Click the Home icon. You are now connected to the server.

Set up your libraries

Plex shows its own content next to the libraries that we share with you. Remove the Plex items and pin ours.

  1. Open the Plex web app.
  2. Move the pointer over a Plex item that you do not want. Click the ellipsis (…), then Unpin. Repeat for each item.
  3. Click More to find the server that we shared with you. The server name can differ.
  4. Click the ellipsis next to a library, then Pin. Repeat for each library that you want.
  5. Click Pinned at the top left to go back to Home. Your libraries show there.

To change the order, click the ellipsis next to a library and choose Reorder. Drag the libraries into place. Click the small x to finish.

Video quality

Plex plays video at 720p by default, even when the file is 1080p or better. This lowers the picture quality and puts more load on the server. Change the setting on each device that you use.

Amazon Fire TV
  1. Open the Plex app. Find Settings at the bottom of the home screen.
  2. Go to Video Quality.
  3. Set Adjust automatically to on.
  4. Set Home streaming to Maximum.
  5. Set Remote streaming to Maximum.
Apple TV
  1. Open the Plex app. Find Settings at the bottom of the home screen.
  2. Go to Video Quality, then Internet Streaming.
  3. Set Local Quality to Maximum.
  4. Set Remote Quality to Maximum.
PlayStation
  1. Open the Plex app. Open the Settings menu under your user name.
  2. Go to Video.
  3. Set Local Quality, Remote Quality, and Online Quality to Original.
  4. Turn on Allow Direct Play, Allow Direct Stream, and Allow HEVC (h265).
Plex web player (Chrome, Safari)
  1. Open the Plex website. Click Settings in the top bar.
  2. Go to Quality.
  3. Set Video Quality to Maximum.
Roku
  1. Open the Plex app. Find Settings at the bottom of the home screen.
  2. Go to Video.
  3. Set Local Quality and Remote Quality to Original.
  4. Set Direct Play to Auto.
  5. Turn on Allow Direct Stream.
Xbox
  1. Open the Plex app. Open the Settings menu under your user name.
  2. Go to Video.
  3. Set Local Quality, Remote Quality, and Online Quality to Original.
  4. Set Allow Direct Play to Auto.
  5. Turn on Allow Direct Stream.
